Assessment

Assessment is a necessary and important part of teaching and learning. Teachers assess whether a child understands what has been taught in many different ways. This includes looking at children’s work and providing feedback, setting challenging questions in class and sitting tests based on the curriculum content each term. Each term, your child’s teacher will make a professional judgement based on these assessments to establish whether your child is on track to achieve age-related expectations for their year group. These judgements indicate whether your child is working at the expected standard or not and will be shared with you in more detail at parents evenings in the Autumn and Spring terms as well as in your child’s end of year report in the Summer term.

The content in this section of the school website has been provided to help demonstrate our assessment system in more detail and aims to show how this relates to your child and their progress within each year as well as throughout their time in our school.
