Working and Learning together with Jesus as one family
The first half term in Year 2 has been filled with learning, growth and discovery. Reading skills have been at the forefront of our focus this term. Pupils have made progress in improving their decoding, prosody and comprehension skills during guided reading sessions.
During English lessons, the children have delved into the enchanting world of storytelling through their retelling of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears." Through engaging role play and written retells, they have honed their narrative skills, bringing this classic tale to life.
Within Maths, the focus has been on fact families and number bonds. The children have tackled these foundational concepts with enthusiasm, developing a strong foundation that will serve them well in more challenging mathematical concepts.
In RE, we've explored symbols of confirmation. Year Two have had thoughtful discussions and gained a deeper understanding of the significance of these symbols in the Catholic faith.
Our History lessons have focused on the impact of women, animals and soldiers during World War I, with a special emphasis on the remarkable Walter Tull. Your children have shown great empathy and an appreciation for the history of this period.
