Relationships and Health Education (RHE)

Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)

RSHE is considered an essential element of the education of the whole child. Our scheme of work,  Ten Ten's Life to the Full, focuses on the physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual changes that can occur at primary school and teaching is underpinned by reference to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. We undertake the agreed scheme of work in the Summer term, however some parts of the RSHE curriculum are referred to during PSHE lessons throughout the year.

Life to the Full is an RSE programme based on statutory Department of Education guidance and fully aligned with the Catholic Education Service (CES) framework for RSE. The programme is rooted in a Christian understanding of the human person provided by the Catholic Education Service. It is inclusive and recognises everyone as an individual.

The church has always recognised that it is the privilege of parents as first educators, and the responsibility of the family to inform and educate their children in all matters pertaining to human growth and development, particularly in the sensitive area of sexual development. Parents have the right to withdraw their child from a limited number of lessons in the school’s programme of Sex Education other than those elements which are required by the National Curriculum. If you wish to do this please contact your child’s class teacher.

The online Parent Portal provides access information about the Life to the Full programme, including resources and suggestions for further activities at home. Resources include:
