    Reception

We've delved into the life of Handa in Africa, contrasting it with life in Ealing. Our learning journey included discovering the concept of a 'Continent.' Exploring the weather, we sorted clothing based on different weather conditions and enjoyed a delightful Winter Day. We ventured outdoors, identifying signs of winter, and had great fun finding lots of ice. We learnt about the need to look after our local wildlife in winter and crafted bird feeders with lard, breadcrumbs, and porridge. Our artistic endeavours included various projects, with the messy snowman topping our favourites. Inside the classroom, we explored ice models and even experienced an indoor snowstorm. Stay warm in this chilly weather!

In our phonics sessions, we've been steadily advancing, growing more confident in our understanding of digraphs, trigraphs and blending to read words. Reception, your dedication is commendable – keep up the excellent work!

  • Year 3

    Thu 01 Feb 2024

Year 3 continues to be engaged and enthused by learning and school life. Over the past week they enjoyed reading a new traditional Fairytale text in English called The Princess Blankets. Pupils have worked hard on writing retells of the story and using evidence based inference reading skills to explain how different characters are feeling using both words and the beautiful illustrations in the book.

In RE pupils have enjoyed learning about Moses and the story of Exodus and the significance and meaning this story holds for many people. Pupils were able to discuss the type of person Moses was based on the actions and events of the Exodus story.

In Geography pupils have learnt all about where their food comes from from origins of where it is grown to exports of how it is distributed. Pupils have been fascinated by the long journey’s and chains of people it takes to produce the food that arrives in our supermarkets and on our kitchen tables.

3AK continues to positively grow week by week, not only in their academics through their hard work and dedication but also in their values of kindness, love and respect. Keep it up Year 3, I am so proud of all aspects of your growth.

  • Year 5

    Thu 01 Feb 2024

In English, Year 5 pupils are learning the features that are required for a non-chronological report, such as using subject-specific vocabulary, formal language, plus effective use of conjunctions, linking sentences and sophisticated punctuation. They are very excited to be writing about an animal of their choice for their next portfolio piece of work. In Maths, we continue our work with fractions - currently working on addition and subtraction questions with mixed numbers. Pupils are about to begin their new Geography topic - Rivers - where they will discover why rivers are important to people and the environment. On Thursday this week, 5HD presented an out-of-this-world assembly taking us across the learning achieved and learning to come in Year 5. Well done, 5HD pupils, for your entertaining and informative assembly! Next Thursday (25th January, 9.00am), it’s the turn of 5JS to lead their assembly. All parents are most welcome.
